SHOPPING:

Conveniently located in the heart of Churchill, all of Churchill's shops are located just steps away.

Gift Shops:

There are a number of gift shops available for buying souvenirs of your Churchill experience.  The majority of these are on Kelsey Boulevard.  Make sure to check out the Arctic Trading Post, Northern Images, and the Wapusk General Store!  For tour-specific mementos, the two buggy operations have gift shops as does Sea North Tours (located in the Polar Inn).

Groceries:

There  are limited options for groceries in Churchill, but the one chain grocery store in Churchill, the Northern, is located 2 minutes walking distance.  In addition to being a grocery store, the Northern carries all manner of sundries, including hardware, electronics, kitchenware, ATVs and Skidoos and home furniture.

MUSEUM / VISITOR'S CENTRE:

The Eskimo Museum is a must do while visiting Churchill.  It's acclaimed collection of inuit art and artifacts is the largest of its kind in Canada.  Additionally, their gift shop  has a large collection of books, carvings, inuit art and keepsakes for sale.  Located on Laverendrye Avenue, directly adjacent to the Roman Catholic Church, the Museum is about a 5 minute walk from the Seaport Hotel.  Please refer to the Maps & Directions section for further details on how to get there.

RECREATION:

Feel like working out while in Churchill?  Or going for a swim?  Or even taking in a movie?  Churchill's recreation complex is minutes away.  Under one roof, the Town Centre Complex, on the shore of the Hudson Bay, contains a gym, swimming pool, skating rink, curling rink, movie theatre, fitness centre, and library.  The local school, hospital and municipal offices are also accessible from this community complex.  Great bay views of the Hudson Bay and free wi-fi also make this a place to visit while in Churchill!

Located in the VIA Rail Train Station, Parks Canada boasts an interpretive visitor reception centre with multiple displays ranging from the types of wildlife present in Churchill,  to Churchill's rich history dating back to its role in the Fur Trade.  There are available presentations and informations sessions that make it well worth the trip!  It is located mere minutes the hotel lobby.

TOURS:

Signing up for tours to see the Polar Bear or Beluga Whales or Helicopter Tours or other adventures that are available in Churchill are a big part of the Churchill experience.  Ideally, you have made these arrangements prior to coming to Churchill but it is possible to enjoy some of these adventures at the last minute.  Our friendly staff will be happy to point out the best places to go and what to see when you are here.  In the summer, check out Sea North Tours for an exciting adventure on the Churchill River.  In the fall, check out Tundra Buggy or Great White Bear for Polar Bear viewing.  Both of their offices are just down the street from the Seaport!  Dog-Sledding Tours also available during Polar Bear Season!
